Tonight, we went to a friend's surprise 30th birthday party. We had a good time enjoying the company of friends, Camdyn had fun playing outside with the little ones, and it was a good time to be had. All fun and games until you realize that you too will enter another decade of life pretty soon. The realization that I will be 30 in a few months has finally arrived. In all honesty, I don't really "feel" that old. I still like to consider myself "young". Not too much has changed in the last ten years....or has it? No one tells you about the changes that come with approaching the t.h.i.r.t.y. year mark....
20's: Staying up til 2 a.m. & getting up feeling like a boss at 6 a.m.
30's: Living for an 8 pm bedtime and still hitting snooze after 10 hours of sleep
20's: Riding on the back of a motorcycle, wind blowing through my hair
30's: Mini van mom chauffeur, lucky if my hair's been washed in two days
20's: Movies to see the latest action packed release
30's: Frozen for the 517th time :)
20's: No fear in eating a dozen doughnuts in two days
30's: You should have had some fear; the fear the scale has when you step on it now after ONE doughnut
20's: Making plans for the weekend
30's: Making plans for grocery trips, cleaning house, and errands
20's: Always game for shopping trips and girl's days
30's: Shopping with my favorite 3 year old girl and mommy daughter pedicures :)
20's: Making sure the outfit, hair, and makeup is on point
30's: Lucky if no one points at me, the way I look some days!
20's: Always at work by 7 a.m., ready and prepared. I lived to work!
30's: Barely make it in time for bell to ring; poptart scarfed down as my kids enter my room...I work to live!
20's: Saturday night = date night <3
30's: Saturday night = Dinner and Walmart
20's: Relaxing on the beach, sand between my toes
30's: Relaxing on the beach...sand in face, baby eating sand :)
20's: Concerts and Shows, T-shirt souvenirs
30's: Disney on Ice, Overpriced glow sticks
20's: Nothing beats a night out with friends
30's: No place I'd rather be than with my hubby and sweet girl <3
And....the biggest change of all?
20's: One foot in the world, one foot in with Jesus
30's: Both feet planted of the solid rock of Jesus. All in. Completely and utterly in love with the Lord and excited to serve and live for him and be in his will.
I can't say that my 20's were all bad, but as I look back on the last decade, there are things I regret, things I wish I had done differently, and things that I wish I could take back. I cannot look back any longer though. My eyes are on the next ten, twenty, thirty years. There will still be mountains to climb, valleys to withstand, but God on the mountain is still God in the valley and he will lead me through the rest of my days. Knowing he is on my side, makes my 30's look brighter. He has blessed me beyond measure and shown me so much in the last year. Here is to the next decade....God, my little family, and love. Who could ever need anything else? (Well, let's face it, i'll still need hair dye....yes....let's not forget the decade of graying hair)
