They fit!! Those jeans shoved in the back of my closet from a year ago fit again! :) A small victory, but a victory nonetheless. When I fastened the button In disbelief I had to stop and give some praise to the Lord. Without him none of this would be possible. He has helped guide and support me on this journey. Keep pushing ladies! Lean on the Lord even in something as trivial as weight loss. Before, I didn't really include him when I tried to better my body or become healthy. I kept thinking, this is not something you go to the Lord with, how silly. I can't help but think it's made the difference this time.
Now, the REAL reason for my post today comes from the question I've been asked the most this week. What does your shopping list look like? What is in your fridge? Your cabinets?
Ok. This isn't going to be very fancy or detailed but here are some staples that I have purchased, things I make sure to have on hand, and things that can replace the "old" way of eating. Later this week I will try to post a sample of what my eating and menu looks like for a day. (Note you should buy natural or organic in any of these things that you can.)
Staples:
Almond and or Coconut Flour
Organic Stevia (I prefer liquid)
Coconut Palm Sugar
Coconut Oil
Coconut Manna
Kerry Gold Butter
Fresh Eggs (local, free range, organic diet is best. You will be surprised at the people locally you can buy these from!)
Coconut Milk
Heavy Whipping Cream
MCT Oil
Olive Oil
Sesame Oil
Coconut Oil Spray
Liquid Aminos (replaces soy sauce)
Now....what about the other "stuff"?
Pork Rinds - you've always been told these are bad for you. They are paleo! Buy the unflavored ones though. The ones with only pork skins and salt are preferred. They make great breeding crumbs, a dipper for your favorite dips, or just a snack!
Pepperoni
Nitrate Free Bacon and Lunch Meat
Grass Fed Beef
Hormone Free Chicken (I like the portioned breasts)
Salmon (wild caught)
Tuna
Cheese of any kind. My favorite of the moment is Gouda!
Spinach
Spring Mix
Almonds
Brazil Nuts (thanks Korri!)
Organic Plant Based Protein Powder (Orgain brand is great and only 3 net carbs)
Sargento Thin Slice Cheese for homemade cheez its!
Celery
Cauliflower - lots of it! I use about 2 heads a week for various things. Recipes to come!
Brocolli Slaw
Seasonings Galore! Buy several and experiment! Make your own taco season or ranch mix to add to sour cream for an awesome dip!
Macadamia Nuts
Sour Cream
Cream Cheese
Sprouted Grain Bread (Trader Joes version is lowest in carb count)
Spaghetti Squash
Eggplant
Persian Cucumbers (so yummy!)
Peppers
Pure Maple Syrup (this is for the occasional treat only. It does have sugar but isn't full of fake and artificial sweeteners like the sugar free syrups are)
Unsweetened Coconut
Dark Chocolate
Organic Cocoa Powder
Baking Soda
Pure Pumpkin (not pie filling)
Shirataki Noodles
Peanut Butter (I prefer Crazy Richards brand. It takes getting used to because there is oil separation and it must be stirred. The best part? Only one ingredient: Peanuts!
Low Carb marinara and pizza sauce
Low Carb Tortillas (I don't eat these as I usually just use some lettuce wraps, but my family eats these)
Leaf Lettuce
Jerky (watch out for the flavored kinds, the usually have sugars)
Free Trade/Organic Coffee
Berries
And what about kitchen necessities?
Parchment paper is your friend! Tips to come...
Blender
Immersion Blender for Bullet Proof Coffee - post to come...
Cooling racks
French Press (coffee lovers)
Hand Mixer
Food Processor
Whew! I think this is the bulk. I hope this gives you an idea of where to start! More to come later!
