The only thing that helps when my mind and heart are going 90 miles per minute is to write. Feel the words as they come out and release the overflow of emotion that resides within me. It's been an emotionally draining week thus far but even through the worry and stress of it all God keeps reminding me of my blessings. Ironically today, when there were so many hiccups to our adventure, that is where I received the little nudges from the Lord showing me how blessed I was. I like to think his constant reminders today have been his way of keeping my mind off of the obvious whirlwind of fear and anxiety I've felt this week. So tonight, I'm just going to list out my blessings that I've been reminded of just today. Make a list of your own blessings sometime. You will stand amazed.
1. Sitting in a long line of cars at the bank today: I have a check to cash. There are so many who are without enough money to even buy a sandwich, let alone pay bills or keep their power on.
2. In an extremely LONG line at a store today: Camdyn had her little arms wrapped around me and was singing sweetly in my ear "You are my sunshine". She said Mama, you are my sunshine and continued to love on me as we stood and waited for what seemed an eternity. I think God made that line a little longer so I could enjoy the special little moments with my daughter whom I've been so greatly blessed with.
3. Exiting the Children's museum only to find a flat tire, asking Siri where the nearest tire station was, and praying like crazy we made it safely there, then realizing it couldn't be repaired! I had to have a new tire!: I had the money from the checks I had just cashed to get a new tire, while a lady next to me realized she couldn't afford the repairs that she needed. She had tears streaming down her face and left without her car. Although financially I couldn't help her I told her I would say a special prayer for her and a smile was brought to her face.
4. Waiting over 20 minutes at Chic-fil-a for our food, finally asking about it, only to discover it was never made: We got our food, ate, and when I turned out of the parking lot, a homeless man was standing on the corner with a sign that said "No Job, Need money for food and shelter." Who am I to complain about it taking so long to get my food? Who knows the last time this man ate. He wasn't in a position that I could easily hand him money as he was adjacent to me, but had I been close to him I would have given him the crackers I had laying in the console and some money to buy a meal.
5. Tonight going into the women's prayer room before church, I felt beat down, discouraged, and worried: There are so many people in a worse condition than me, who aren't afraid. They are confident the Lord will see them through. I looked around at those ladies faces as they each shared their heart's burdens and requests and I realized how blessed I was just to be sitting among them. What an extraordinary group of ladies God has enabled me to build friendships with. I know without a doubt that I can call on any of them and they will either be there to help or pray with me. They have blessed my heart time after time and I'm thankful for their friendship. It's a good feeling when you can't wait to get back to church after you leave. My heart was full when I left that room.
"As the World looks upon me, as I stumble along. They say I have nothing but they are so wrong. In my heart I'm rejoicing and I wish they could see. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me!"
